EMQ FamiliesFirst Supports Proposition 30
Last Thursday, the executive committee of the EMQ FamiliesFirst board of directors approved formal support for Governor Brown’s “Yes on Proposition 30” campaign. They made the decision knowing that it is the right thing to do for children and families who rely on our programs and services.
As you’ll recall, last year the state shifted responsibility and funding from the state to counties for child welfare (including abuse/neglect investigations and foster care), mental health, juvenile corrections, and other key safety net programs.
The future of realigned programs is dependent upon the Governor’s tax initiative winning. Otherwise, an immediate $6 billion in cuts will occur with some of those cuts impacting programs that support vulnerable children and families.
I urge you to learn more about Proposition 30. You’ll find useful information and links here.
Most of all, I urge you to vote for Proposition 30; and tell your family and friends to support the measure, too!
